Bellavista, an urban expansion area in the city of Abancay, has been affected by mass soil movement. During periods of rainfall, there is significant soil infiltration, especially in the months of January to March each year. In 2012, the precipitation reached 1012.80 mm, historically the highest in the last 50 years. The objective of this research was to determine the influence of rainfall water infiltration on mass soil movement and the safety factor. Data was collected in the natural environment, with soil pits excavated to determine soil types and properties. Data processing in the various stages of the research utilized ArcMap v.10.5, AutoCAD Civil v.2016, CRUTEM4 Google Earth, Global Mapper v.19, Rocscience (Slide v.6.0), jamovi, IBM SPSS v.28, and Excel. The results showed the absence of rocks; however, the infiltration of rainfall water into the soil does influence mass soil movement and results in a safety factor of 0.976, which is less than 1. It is concluded that there is no infiltration of rainfall water into the rocks. The area consists of Quaternary deposits where clayey silt soil predominates in the upper layer, and gravel – boulder deposits in the lower layer. The upper layer experiences infiltration and generates a distributed load of 6.56 kN/m2, which influences mass soil movement and the safety factor. The damage to housing and road infrastructure exposes the occurrence of mass soil movement.
