Resumen

The objective of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the application of the flipped classroom as a teaching methodology and the development of mathematical competencies in engineering students. A descriptive correlational design was worked with a sample of 39 environmental engineering students. The results show that more viewing of the videos improves the development of mathematical skills. In addition, reviewing class notes more frequently allows a better performance in the use of mathematical symbols and that greater participation of students, whether by asking questions or explanations, improves the development of mathematical competencies. It was also found that students value the benefits of the application of this methodology and of the designed material that favors communication and collaboration processes.
